For the last year I've been keeping a log of the monthly amount of spam I've received at my previous (now unused) e-mail address, since I only really started getting spam at the beginning of last year. April 2003 that address saw a grand total of 41, and this increased monthly until March 2004 when I received 2,794. Still tiny by [livejournal.com profile] the_magician's standards, but as of the end of the month yesterday, April's incoming spam actually fell by more than half to 1,374, and I've done nothing at all to stem the tide.

It will no doubt rise again, but has anyone else been similarly fortunate?

Yes. My ISP, Virgin.net, informed me that they'd instituted new spamblocking protocols, or something - and from an easy couple of hundred spam a day, my spam count has gone down to less than a hundred in over a week. (I don't keep as precise a count - I just notice how often I have to flush the Trash.)

Three months ago I enquired of Macunlimited if they use filters and they said no. So I've just enquired again...

Since I changed my email address and turned my old one into a spam trap, I'm down to practically zero - which makes a change from the 100+ a day I was up to.
